Sometimes providing exceptional service means bringing the sales experience to them. That’s where Sr. Field Sales Representative Nya Nealy comes in.
The Path to Field Sales
Nya began her career at AT&T as a part-time Retail Sales Consultant. “I was initially attracted to AT&T because it had a very good reputation,” the Austin-based expert explained. “I knew they offered great benefits and growth potential.”
Grow is exactly what she did as she quickly moved up to an Assistant Store Manager position. She thrived in the sales-driven culture and made a name for herself as a strong leader. After four years, she was ready to try something different. “I was used to developing people, driving sales, and managing escalations, but I wanted a new challenge.”
This desire brought her to Field Sales, though she admits she was initially hesitant to take the role. “The opportunity to push myself and earn more was exciting, but it had been a while since I held a role like this, and I was scared to fail.”
She reached out to her mentor for guidance. “Her strength, honesty, and drive really helped me believe in myself. She told me to see this new role as a promotion and that it would be like managing my own business. She was right.”
Nya applied and today she is thriving in the role that initially “terrified” her.
On the Job
As a Field Sales Representative, her day-to-day looks quite different from when she was in a Retail store. It begins around 7:30 A.M. when she checks her dispatch list and begins planning for the day’s customers. She leaves home by 8 A.M. for her first appointment. Working through the dispatch list typically takes until about 5 P.M., but some days can take her late into the evening.
At each stop, she dedicates at least an hour to maximize her time with the customer. Nya listens to their situation, walks them through our products, and provides a bespoke solution to connect them in the way that best fits their needs.
The role also offers increased earnings potential. “The commission structure for Field Sales is amazing,” she said. “The incentives for each line can be truly impactful.”
Taking a chance has paid off in other ways as well. Nya has earned recognition at both the regional and national levels for her success in the field. While she is in control of her own career, she’s not on her own. The new leaders she’s met along the way provide constructive feedback and mentorship opportunities.
Looking Ahead
Nya also notes how many doors this role can open for those looking to grow. “Becoming a Field Sales Expert has been a life changing experience personally and professionally. I’ve engaged with so many amazing customers and gained exposure through my success.”
